The Seattle Icon poster features the Space Needle, a 605-foot observation tower in Seattle, Washington. Once the tallest structure west of the Mississippi River, it was originally built for the 1962 World's Fair. The stability of the tower is remarkable as it was constructed to withstand winds of up to 200 miles per hour and earthquakes of up to 9.1 magnitude.

The Space Needle was designed by John Graham, and construction was completed in 1961.
